Top August Drinks Events, Part 1

Now the sun is just about shining, it’s time to get out and about and enjoy discovering some cheeky new tipples.

If you’re in the UK, there’s an awful lot on in August, so we’ve compiled a list of some of the best places to go – be it Food and Drink Festivals, beer tasting, or whisky workshops.

This is part one – from 1st-15th August. Part two is coming up next week!

4th August: Clitheroe Food Festival

Tons of great exhibitors here, and plenty of them are boozy: from traditional ales to retro vodka – and of course cider. There’s also a coffee tasting workshop and a wine-tasting session too.

7th-11th August: Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia

So much more than beer tasting, there is tons going on at this event. From live music to an auction to become a brewer for the day, this isn’t to be missed if you’re a lager lover or cider crazy…

9th-12th August: Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival

This is a jam-packed event, and what’s more admission is FREE! Win. From local real ales to flavoured vodka, there’s plenty of booze to keep you entertained – and they’re als encouraging visitors to participate in an Ale Trail or a Cocktail Trail at participating venues between now and 12th August.

10th-11th August: Northumbria Food and Wine Festival

Tickets are £20, but this promises to be packed full of wine merchants and local breweries who’d love you to try their wares. There’s also absolutely tons of guest speakers guiding you through all you need to know about vino.

10th-12th August: Foodies Festival visits Edinburgh

Oh, how we love the Foodies Festival. It’s touring the UK, and next week it rocks up at Edinburgh. There’s exhibitors galore from all over the land, but there are also dozens of events: from wine masterclasses from various regions (Loire, Bordeaux, Spain & Portugal to name a few) to summer cocktail classes. Perfect.

11th-12th August: Cardigan River & Food Festival

Another event bursting with fantastic exhibitors: such as Welsh fruit wines and medieval mead. There’s also cider a-plenty and even some speciality tea for Welsh water!

15th August: Members Whisky Club – Whisky Cocktails, Southbank Centre

Not cheap at £40, but such an experience. Learn to become a whizz at rustling up a perfect whisky cocktail, whether it’s an old favourite or a new classic.

16th-19th August: Ipswich Beer Festival

Taste over 180 beers and 80 ciders in the company of live music on the water front. Perfect.
