Your Local: Great Western Wine, Bath

Website: Great Western Wine

Where: Located on Wells Road in Bath, Great Western Wine have been going for over 30 years. That’s a lot of wine love.

Why are they cool? Because although they’re a delightfully old-fashioned emporium (although they do stock 800 wines!) they’re right up to date and have thought of everything. Not only do they stock wines from some of the best boutique wineries in the world (you won’t find these fellas in supermarkets), they have passionate staff, offer personal wine advice, and have developed various methods for ordering (you can do it by phone or email as well as visiting them or browsing the online shop). They also do ace tastings with a difference, and their website is exquisitely detailed – you can search by various categories, and they even list all the press reviews for each wine they sell.

TippleTipple’s Great Western Wine Picks:

Yay! Special prices! This Argentinian Bodegas Santa Ana Sol Merlot is only £5.50 (normally £7.60), very good indeed for such a smooth red from one of the most exciting New World countries out there at the moment.

Hooray! Another offer! Great Western stock the Heartland Stickleback White for just £8.50 right now (normally £9.95), which is a ridiculously fair price. The brainchild of wine God Ben Glaetzer, this is one of the best Aussie whites I’ve had in ages.

Upcoming Events: Next Thursday 26th July, these cool cats are holding a Wine and Jazz night. Could that sound more perfect? Well guess what, it could: all ticket revenue is being donated to help save Bath Festivals. Tickets are £15.
