Website: The Vineking
Where: Based in the Reigate and Weybridge area of Surrey, The Vineking was created in 2003. They now have three shops and a warehouse, and are going strong.
Why are they cool? Run by a group of enthusiastic wine-buffs, their range is pretty darn impressive – and the same goes for their prices. They also do regular exciting events at their stores and have their own delivery vans.
TippleTipple’s Wine Picks:
One of my favourites is this Percheron Old Vine Cinsault from South Africa. Not exactly widely available in the UK, this is warm, fruity with a hint of sweet spice. A lot better than most of what you’d get from most supermarkets for £6.49 a bottle.
Yay! Introductory offer alert! The lovely fellows at The Vineking are also offering the amazing Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc for a shockingly good £11.99 per bottle until the end of July. Possibly my favourite Kiwi sauvignon, this is delicately balanced with real finesse, from one of the absolute best estates in the Marlborough region.
Upcoming Events: The 18th July sees their Church Street store hosting a night of Deutz Champagne, with a tutored tasting from the Champagne Houses’s export manager himself as well as meats, cheeses and nibbles to accompany the sparklers. Tickets are £40.
